NEIPF 2-day annual conference concludes

The two-day second annual conference of the North East Indigenous People’s Forum (NEIPF) hosted by the Nagaland Indigenous People’s Forum (NIPF) at North East Zone Cultural Centre, Diphupar, Chümoukedima concluded on Saturday.
During the conference, a new executive body was selected and a resolution titled “Diphupar Declaration” was adopted.
The NEIPF new executive body will be led by Anup Chetia as chairman, Dr. Lima Jamir and Tage Lapung as vice-chairmen and N Ibungochoubi as general secretary.
Following the deliberations from the delegates, resource persons, scholars, intellectuals and representatives of various organisations, the conference resolved to present a declaration to the people of the region.
During the two-day conference, the house adopted “Diphupar declaration” which read: Article 1-North East Indigenous People’s Forum will continuously thrive for the creation of a conducive atmosphere for the indigenous peoples of the North East States for sharing common interest and issues; Article 2-NEIPF will make an endeavour in the pursuit of preserving indigenous traditional values and cultural practices; Article 3-NEIPF demands assurance for ensuring and making the indigenous people a stakeholder in every decision concerning the people and the land and Article 4-NEIPF draws attention of the North East States to address the interstate boundaries with utmost care.
The Forum also asked for preferences to be given to indigenous peoples in the settlement.
