A delegation of UDA legislators led by Neiphiu Rio on Tuesday called on Union minister Amit Shah and other Central leaders.
Though no details were made known about the meeting, it was learnt that the delegation briefed Amit Shah about their recent meetings with the NSCN (I-M) and the WC, NNPGs in Dimapur.
Earlier during the day, Neiphiu Rio called on union minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan. Taking to twitter after the meeting, Rio said both discussed several matters for the welfare of Nagaland.
Later, Rio also called on union minister of Railways, Communications, Electronics & Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw. In a tweet, Rio expressed gratitude to the minister for his assurances on improving connectivity, expanding the railway network and strengthening development in Nagaland.
The Modi government has indicated its firm commitment to bring solution to the decades old Naga political issue and does not want to drag on the issue any further. A legislator also said the UDA core committee, acting as facilitators, was seriously pursuing the issue to help bring early solution.
Former Interlocutor for Naga talks and then Nagaland governor, RN Ravi had said that all official negotiations concluded on October 31, 2019. NSCN (I-M) however maintained that October 31, 2019 was actually “a day of ultimatum served on the NSCN to sign the agreement under the Indian constitution without the Naga flag and the yehzabo (constitution).”
