State chief minister Neiphiu Rio and deputy chief minister Y Patton have expressed grief over the demise of retired senior IPS officer, Rongsenshilu Jamir, in Dimapur on January 16, 2025.
In a condolence message to Mrs. Purlemla, Rio said RS Jamir, who was the first Naga Inspector General of Police, was a man of principle, who lived a sincere and upright life.
The chief minister also pointed out that late Rongsenshilu Jamir was awarded the President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service and was inducted into the Indian Police Service. Apart from his professional role, Rio said late Rongsenshilu was also known for being a kind and compassionate person.
In his demise, the chief minister said not only the Ao community but Nagas as a whole have lost a guardian, and a father figure. “Though he is no longer with us, the sacrifices he had made for the welfare of society and his contributions to the State will always be remembered,” Rio said.
The chief minister conveyed condolences to the bereaved family in this hour of grief and prayed to God Almighty to give them courage and solace to bear this irreparable loss.
Meanwhile, condoling the death of Rongsenshilu Jamir, the deputy chief minster Y Patton described him as a pioneering officer in the police department after Nagaland got statehood.
“His devotion to duties and service to the society will be honoured and remembered,” Patton said.
The deputy chief minister, who also holds home portfolio, on behalf of the police department, conveyed deepest condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.
