
In continuation of the theme, “Clean Dimapur”, the North East Institute of Social Science and Research (NEISSR) carried out a cleanliness drive in collaboration with DMC at Sachu colony on April 14.
A press release by MSW, NEISSR Dziesezelie Sanchu stated that the work was initiated by the Community Development (CD) Forum NEISSR and “Realizing the importance of a clean and a hygienic environment, community awareness was given through the cleanliness drive” it said.
The small colony of Zeliangrong Village was adopted as a model village by the CD Forum NEISSR last year (2017) and a survey of the colony was conducted. Following the survey trainee (students) initiated a step for the development of the community.
The cleanliness drive was conducted with participation of youth from the colony and a truck put at their disposal by the DMC. Khuno, convener CD Forum, thanked the community members for their cooperation and also assured them that more activities would be conducted in the days to come. Dr. Toli Kiba, assistant professor NEISSR (HoD, Community Development) also invited the people from the community to come forth and invite the forum to conduct more activities and awareness programmes. Youth president Joseph, thanking the students for taking such an initiative, promised to co-operate with the forum even in the days to come.
