NEISSR observes Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti

North East Institute of Social Sciences and Research (NEISSR), Peace Centre, Chümoukedima, under its NSS Unit, observed Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14 at BAM Hall.


Addressing the gathering NEISSR, vice principal, Fr. G.L. Khing, highlighted on the significant impact of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar on Indian society. He praised Dr. Ambedkar’s efforts in challenging the caste hierarchy, mentioning that his fight brought about lasting changes in the Indian Constitution and society.


He highlighted Ambedkar’s core values equality, fraternity, liberty, and justice and emphasized that today’s India continues to benefit from his vision and sacrifices. He noted that despite the hardships Ambedkar faced, his knowledge, character, and dedication to uplifting the marginalized prevailed.


He urged social work students to live with humility and uphold justice, equality, and respect, principles that Dr. Ambedkar stood for.


He encouraged them to start with good thoughts leading to positive action and reminded them to stay committed despite challenges, assuring that their efforts would one day be recognized by society.


The program was chaired by NEISSR BSW 6th Semester, Vine Domeh, commenced with the reading of the Preamble of the Indian Constitution and an invocation by NEISSR, BSW 6th Semester, Hantsula Yimchungru.
