The 4th batch of MSW final year students (2017-19) from the North East Institute of Social Science and Research (NEISSR) visited O. P. Jindal Global University at Sonipat (Haryana) as part of their study tour on January 28 and 29.
NEISSR principal, Dr. C. P. Anto, in a press release stated that 46 students (22 girls and 24 boys) attended the ASEAN and Indian Higher Education Leaders’ Conference held under the theme: Achieving Research Excellence at the University. Over 60 academicians, scholars and students from about 16 ASEAN countries participated in the conference. They deliberated the fate of higher education in the globalized world and spoke about areas of inter-University collaboration for inter-disciplinary studies of present day problems and issues in sustainable development.
Participants of the conference interacted one-to-one exploring possibilities of networking and partnership through inter-universiry collaboratives and exchange programs within the region. Dr. Fr. C. P. Anto along with Dr Toli Kiba, Dr. Deben and Sungjemtola had several interactions with professors from Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia, exploring opportunities for academic exchange programs.
University students from Afghanistan, Vietnam, India and Indonesia entertained the international gathering with group dances and songs. Neissrians presented a group song customized to sound like a local folk tune, called ‘One in Spirit’.
Students specializing in peace and conflict transformation studies participated in the 5th National Peace Convention 2019 at Gurugram and together with Youth and Community Development groups they visited the School of Social Sciences, JNU, Delhi for a day long interactive session on developments issues of the North East region, with professors from the Centre for Studies of Social Systems and North East Studies Centre.
