NetZero plan for Dimapur unveiled

DIMAPUR: In a landmark initiative aligned with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Viksit Bharat 2047 and India’s commitment to sustainable development, NetZero Horizon and Good Shepherd Welfare Society (GSWS) have unveiled their proposal to develop Dimapur as the country’s first NetZero District under the flagship NetZero District Model (NDM).
A high level delegation comprising Deepak Thakur, consulting advisor, NetZero Horizon; Rahul Deo, editor in chief, NetZero Horizon; Saurav Kumar, managing editor, NetZero Horizon; and Imli Yanger Jamir, president, GSWS, met Governor Nand Kishore Yadav at Lok Bhawan, Kohima on July 11, to present the vision and roadmap for the initiative.
According to GSWS, the Governor welcomed the proposal, extended his best wishes for its successful implementation, and accepted the invitation to be chief guest at the upcoming event “Grid to Growth” scheduled for August 29 in New Delhi.
The NetZero District Model seeks to transform Dimapur into a nationally recognised model for climate resilient and inclusive development by focusing on four strategic pillars-energy security, water security, green skilling and community led governance. The initiative is envisioned as a scalable framework that can be replicated across districts in India, supporting the country’s transition towards a low carbon and resilient economy.
The delegation reaffirmed that the initiative is inspired by the Prime Minister’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, translating national climate ambitions into actionable district level interventions. The programme will include stakeholder consultations, institutional partnerships, capacity building initiatives, policy support and pilot projects to strengthen local resilience while promoting sustainable growth.
With this initiative, NetZero Horizon and GSWS aim to establish a replicable blueprint for district level climate governance that contributes meaningfully to India’s long term net zero aspirations and sustainable development goals.
