As Dimapur COVID Hospital and paramilitary COVID hospitals are reaching their maximum intake capacity and accommodating more patients could become impossible in future, another location will be soon identified as additional COVID care centre (CCC). This was decided at a meeting convened by Dimapur deputy commissioner (DC) Dimpaur, Anoop Khinchi and attended by chief medical officer (CMO) Dr Tiasunep Pongener and officials from paramilitary forces here on Sunday.
Ganeshnagar quarantine centre, new DC office complex at Chumukedima and Institute of Hotel Management, Kushiabill were suggested as possible sites for the new CCC at the meeting, which also decided that the new CCC would be jointly managed with the help of military and paramilitary forces.
The meeting further decided that a central collection point would be identified for collection of samples of all military and paramilitary forces in Dimapur district.
It was also decided that the CMO would send his team for imparting training on how to take samples and maintain necessary standard operating procedure (SOP) for initial few days, after which they would be able to collect the samples themselves. Further, it was agreed that CMO would provide medium for sample collection.
At the meeting, Kinchi stressed the importance of the district administration, medical department and paramilitary forces in working together to fight and contain the COVID-19 pandemic.
Referring to increase in positive cases at paramilitary quarantine centres and cases of re-infection, Pongener urged everyone to maintain social discipline and following strict protocols for ensuring that cases dwindled down in the near future.
