New DPRO office inaugurated at Peren headquarters

The newly constructed office building of the District Public Relations Officer (DPRO), Peren, was inaugurated on February 24 by Commissioner & Secretary, Information & Public Relations and Co-operation, Orenthung.
A DIPR report informed that, Orenthung, in his inaugural address, noted that the newly established district headquarters at Peren faces unique challenges due to its remote location and limited facilities. He expressed optimism that with collective effort and proper planning, the headquarters could be developed into a vibrant township. He lauded Peren district’s vision to become the greenest district in Nagaland, saying the goal was achievable and aligned with sustainable development objectives.
Highlighting the State’s economic scenario, he observed Nagaland’s limited industrial presence and small economy, informing that the government was exploring avenues to market surplus carbon credits to industrialised states. He added that a biomass survey would soon be conducted, noting Nagaland’s high forest cover.
On employment, he stressed the need to equip youth with market-driven skills and urged them not to rely solely on government jobs, emphasising dignity of labour. He also underlined the role of the IPR Department in disseminating information on government policies, programmes and emerging opportunities.
DC, Peren, Hiazu Meru, congratulated the DPRO and staff on the new office building and appreciated the IPR Department for undertaking the construction. He said a dedicated office space would enhance efficiency and urged officers to safeguard public property responsibly. He acknowledged the role of the DPRO in ensuring district activities are reflected in the media and stressed the need to leverage technology through digitisation of records. The programme was chaired by joint director, IPR, Asangla Imsong. A dedicatory prayer was pronounced by pastor Nlumbui, while a special song was presented by Icetbuile. The District Profile was presented by DPRO, Peren, Ketarutmakbo Zeliang.
