The newly constructed Information & Public Relations (IPR) Office building at Tseminyu was inaugurated on February 23 by Orenthung Lotha, Commissioner & Secretary, IPR and Cooperation, who graced the occasion as the special guest.
Addressing the gathering, Lotha described Tseminyu as a unique and vibrant district fortunate to receive such infrastructure. He termed the new establishment as one of the best departmental offices in the districts and encouraged the people to make optimal use of the facility. Expressing gratitude to former Advisor IPR, late Imkong L. Imchen, and Chief Minister, Dr. Neiphiu Rio, he highlighted their contributions towards the project.
Lotha also underscored the importance of the upcoming census, appealing for accurate and truthful information, as census data forms the foundation of policy-making and development planning. He cautioned that incorrect data could deprive the population of rightful benefits. Stressing the department’s role in providing responsive and verified information, he said that in the era of social media, it was essential for the government to communicate constructive and accurate information through print, electronic, and digital platforms.
Informing that the government is planning to establish the Nagaland Integrated Information System, Lotha said Tseminyu would function as one of the information hubs, collecting data from various departments under the leadership of the Deputy Commissioner and district administration to ensure accessibility of accurate information to the public.
Deputy Commissioner, Japhet Woch, expressed appreciation to all stakeholders for the timely completion of the project. He noted that several infrastructure projects had been initiated since the formation of the district and lauded the completion of the IPR Office building in record time, attributing the achievement to the dedication of contractors and timely release of funds. He urged departments and staff to function proactively, generate accurate data, and ensure effective governance, cautioning against misinformation in the age of social media.
