The Department of Journalism & Mass Communication , Patkai Christian College (Autonomous), inaugurated and dedicated its new JMC Studio on October 1.
The studio was inaugurated by Patkai Christian College Principal Dr. Thepfuvilie Pierü, who cut the ceremonial ribbon. Congratulating the Department of Journalism & Mass Communication, Dr. Pierü expressed confidence that the facility would encourage students to explore their creativity and produce meaningful content.
JMC Head of Department Rojenn Wahengbam said the studio was conceived as a student-centred facility, with students being given round-the-clock access to the studio and its equipment.
The facility includes a podcast production station, digital audio mixing setup, non-linear editing suites, acoustic isolation, broadcast lighting system and a newsroom-style anchor desk.
The new infrastructure is expected to provide students with opportunities to gain practical experience in podcasting, audio production, video editing, studio presentation and other aspects of media production alongside their classroom learning.
Patkai Christian College Chaplain Rev. Dr. Vichiükho Ngukha led the dedicatory prayer during the programme. The programme was attended by administrative heads, senior faculty members, faculty of the JMC department and students.
