New Museum Luyong inaugurated

New Museum Luyong under Mokochung district of Nagaland constructed by Needy People Society (NPS) was inaugurated by ADC, Tuli, Imsongmeren on May 30.

A press release from NPS stated that, guest of honor ADC Tuli, lmsongmeren congratulated the NPS and its team for the construction of the museum and that it represents a milestone for society and Luyong people in particular.

He highlighted that museums have a long history going back to the 3rd Century BC, and houses things created by nature and by man in modern society as well as the cultural soul of the nation. He further stated that museum at Luyong like in other place must be innovative, people-oriented, community-minded, professional with well trained personnel besides being child, handicap and old age friendly.

Delivering the keynote address, chairman NPS, K. Asenla Khate highlighted about the formation of the society, its goals and objectives and also the activities that has been undertaken and the future aspirations of the society.

Chairman of Luyong Village Council (LVC) Shilumenba and chairman of Molungyimsen Kosasanger Puto Menden, Purtongzuk in their brief speeches thanked NPS for taking initiative to open museum in their area.

The programme was attended by village council members of Luyong and Molungyimsen Kosasanger Puto menden villages, invited guest, friends. Earlier, invocation was offered by Rev. O. Lima, Luyong Baptist Church.
