A new political organisation under the name and style “Eastern Naga National Government (ENNG)” in Eastern Nagaland, was formed on January 14, 2016 stated a press release issued by the ENNG president R. Stephen Naga.
According to the statement, the functionaries of the newly floated ENNG (besides its president R. Stephen), included- Khongwong Mossang (minister of home affairs), M. Saimon (minister of defence) and Kim Juv NG (minister of foreign affairs).
ENNG will have its armed wing to be known as “Eastern Naga Independent Army (ENIA).
Further R. Stephen Naga stated, that ENNG is based on the political strategy over Eastern Nagaland and the tribes of Eastern Nagaland. He said ENNG manifesto was for “more satisfaction for people of the land” that is “ a fortunate blessing of almighty God for our nation.”
Stephen said ENNG will honour history and tradition of Nagas, uphold economic resources and the right to exercise political rights in their own nation and remain committed to advancing economic, political, social and spiritual well-being of eastern Nagas.
Stephen said ENNG invoked God’s blessing upon “our nation in the name of Jesus Christ” since people of Eastern Nagaland suffered “untold terrible pain, agony, extreme poverty” and inhuman suffering during the past few decades, from various Naga National political leaders and wrong political philosophy and misguided policies of various Naga groups under the influence of “other north east militant groups.”
Based on the above, he said there was need of urgent formation of the new political organisation(ENNG) for the welfare and governance of the people of Eastern Nagaland to bring peace and tranquillity in the land.
Stephen said ENNG will fully concentrate on the Myanmar’s Eastern Nagaland and take care of its people to be recognised as a “nation in the days to come”.
The ENNG president also promised that people of Eastern Nagaland shall never be disappointed. He said ENNG will also have the privilege to talk with the Myanmarese National League for Democracy (NLD) about the statement of Eastern Nagaland in the days to come.
ENNG Vision Statement
The ENNG declared to unite all peoples, organisations and factions in Eastern Nagaland (currently under military occupation of Myanmar).
It recognised the urgent need to reclaim Nagaland which was carved out into separate regions and states over the years, since Myanmar became independent from the British in 1948.
It recognised the need for a separate national organisation for Eastern Nagas at the present juncture of history with the blessings and support of the entire Nagas of Eastern Nagaland.
Expressed concern that Eastern Nagas had suffered from discrimination, extreme poverty, colonisation, occupation and historical injustices that had disposed them of their land and resources and prevented them from their right to development in accordance with their own customary and traditional laws.
Expressed concern over lack of development of Eastern Nagaland and educational disadvantage and technological drawback.
ENNG will not allow entry of armed groups in its peace zone and would not tolerate any kind of illegal smuggling and added, that any such entry will be defended by ENNG army.
Further, ENNG invited intellectuals and educated youth to join it (to save the nation for the greater interests of the people).
