
Mengujuma village under Western Angami region of Kohima district got its new playground on December 27, wherein it was formally inaugurated by Er. Kevisekho Kruse, chief engineer (Retd) PHED.
Er. Kruse in his speech lauded the village leaders for coming up with the playground, which he said was the first step towards encouraging the youth to take up games and sports.
He challenged the youth to avail the benefits and opportunities given to them, while he expressed hope that sportspersons would be able to utilize the facilities to their advantage and excel in sports.
With the completion of the playground, he stated that “it is a sign of unity among the villagers and the presence of good leadership.” He said that inaugurated of new playground spoke volumes about unity of the villagers and was a sign towards progress and intergrity for future generation.
VDB secretary of the village Pelesavi Rürhie, who chaired the programme, informed that the development of the playground which took a year to complete was done under the plan of the MGNREGA 2015-2016.
Village council chairman, Thepfusatuo Sechü lauded all the villagers for their help and support extended towards the venture.
The ground inauguration also coincided with the annual sports meet of the Mengujuma Youth Organisation which would conclude on December 30.
The programme commenced with invocation pronounced by Kekuose Seyie, pastor, AG Church Mengujuma and welcome address delivered by MYO advisor Ketulhoukho Kuotsu. A special number was presented by Zevi B, while MYO games and sports secretary, Peteneizo Sechü administered oath to the players.
