Office of the Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer (SDAO), Chiephobozou Kohima was inaugurated on Friday by parliamentary secretary for Agriculture, Y. M. Yollow Konyak.
According to DIPR, the occasion was also graced by Parliamentary Secretary for Labour, Emplyoment, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Dr. Neiphrezo Keditsu.
After inaugurating the office, Y. M. Yollow said that the people of Chiephobozou should be happy as the department of Agriculture has reached them. He informed that there are 26 SDAO offices across the State, which plays an important role in agri sector.
Yollow also pointed out that the 7686 farmers among the 28 villages under Chiephobozou were the “department’s personnel” and therefore urged them to contribute more in this sector. The parliamentary secretary also informed that seedling would be distributed in time by the SDAO’s Office.
Dr. Neiphrezo in his speech, thanked Yollow and director Agriculture, Helie Rupreo for fulfilling the long awaited desires of Chiephobozou area people and hoped that they would continue to work for the people.
He hoped that the inauguration of the office would create more livelihood and job opportunities thereby boosting the economy.
Director Agriculture, Helie Rupreo gave a brief report of the department. He also congratulated the District Agricultural Officer and his staff and people of Chiephobozou for the achievement. With today’s inauguration Kohima district has three Agriculture Divisions – District Agriculture Office at Kohima Sadar, Tseminyu and Chiephobozou.
He said that the department has eleven DAOs, 26 SDAOs, State Agriculture Research Centre at Mokokchung, Principal ITC at Medziphema, State Seed Farm at Merapani, Central Store at Dimapur, Agri Expo at Dimapur, seven Farms and two Sub-Research Station. Altogether there are 1981 departmental staffs including KVK, ADMA and casual employees.
Earlier, the inaugural programme was chaired by ADC, Chiephobozou, Sangmai C. Imlong who also delivered the welcome address. The programme began with an invocation by pastor Dziesetuolie Chadi of Chiephobozou Baptist Church while special numbers were presented by women group and Town Council Youth of Chiephobozou and vote of thanks was delivered by District Agriculture Officer, Vizonyu Liezie.
