A new transporter body in the name and style of All Nagaland Goods Movers Union (ANGMU) has been formed under the initiative of Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI).
In a press release, DCCI vice president V Shikuto Achumi informed that the formation of the new transport union comes against the backdrop of the September 25, 2021 joint meeting wherein the then Dimapur transport union was banned and subsequently dissolved. The joint meet was convened by Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce & Industry (CNCCI) and DCCI.
The chamber informed that formation of ANGMU was necessitated as there was an urgent need to have a transporter union to facilitate smooth flow of goods and essential commodities into the state especially the commercial hub Dimapur.
DCCI said that the new transport body would also act as a bridge between transporters, traders and various government agencies to ensure and streamline supply of goods and essential commodities. Besides, it would also check random illegal taxation that was responsible for price inflation.
DCCI stated that it would strictly monitor the functioning of ANGMU and work collectively for welfare of transporters and business community keeping in mind the sentiments of the common public.
The chamber has requested all registered transporters and business community of Dimapur to cooperate with ANGMU.
