KOHIMA, JUN 17 (NPN): A newborn baby girl was found abandoned at an under construction building in Bayavü colony on Wednesday morning, prompting immediate intervention from local residents, medical personnel and police.
According to sources, labourers arriving for work at the construction site near the highway, opposite Alma Computer Institute, heard the cries of the infant. On alerting a nearby woman, the baby was wrapped in cloth and rushed to GIVF Hospital at High School where first aid was administered. The infant was later referred to Naga Hospital and admitted to the ICU for further medical care.
Police have registered a case and investigation is underway.
Bayavü Panchayat Women Organisation general secretary, Kenei, said members of the organisation immediately responded after receiving information. “By the time we arrived, the witness had already taken the baby safely to the hospital. The baby is currently receiving medical treatment at Naga Hospital,” she stated.
