The newly elected members of town councils took oath of affirmation at their respective districts and sub-divisions on July 5. According to DIPR, elected candidates of Chumoukedima Town Council and Medziphema Town Council took an oath taking of affirmation at DC’s Conference Hall, Chumoukedima.
DC, Chumoukedima Abhinav Shivam, administered the oath of affirmation and the councillors elected Lhousito Khro (NDPP) from ward -2 was elected as Chairperson and Moala Ao (NDPP) from ward- 7 as Deputy Chairperson from Chumoukedima Town Council.
For Medziphema Town Council- Abei Thepa (NDPP) from ward 5 was elected as chairperson, and Neisaleno Khro (NDPP) from ward -1 as deputy chairperson.
MOKOKCHUNG: All the 18 elected members of Mokokchung Town Council took oath of affirmation, which was administered by the ADC and administrator MMC at the Conference Hall of the Mokokchung Municipal Council office.
ZUNHEBOTO: The oath taking ceremony for the newly elected members of Zunheboto, Atoizu, Satakha and Aghunato council members was held at DC’s conference hall, Zunheboto.
The oath of affirmation was administered by the Deputy Commissioner Zunheboto, Rahul Bhanudas Mali.
PEREN: Newly elected members of Peren, Jalukie and Tening Town Councils took an oath of affirmation at a ceremony held at DC’s Conference Hall, Peren. Deputy Commissioner of Peren, Vineet Kumar administered the oath of affirmation to the elected members in accordance with the Section 60A of the Nagaland Municipal Act, 2023.
Vineet congratulated the town councillors on behalf of district administration and described the occasion as historic as the ULB election was held successfully after a gap of 20 years with 33% reservation for women for the first time.
He also encouraged the elected members to work sincerely for the development of their respective wards in particular and Peren district at large.
During the ceremony, Mireulung Sephe (NDPP) was elected as chairperson and Hunganbo (NDPP) as deputy chairperson of Peren Town Council.
For Jalukie Town Council, Hadi (NDPP) was elected as chairperson and Tingba Hegui (NDPP) as deputy chairperson and for Tening Town Council, Lungchui (NDPP) was elected as chairperson and Pauzin Rentta (Independent) as deputy Chairperson.
CHIEPHOBOZOU: The oath taking ceremony for the newly elected Councillors of Chiephobozou Town Council including the nine unopposed elected members was held at Customary Court, Chiephobozou Town. Addressing the gathering, Returning Officer & ADC Chiephobozou, Alemyapang Longchar thanked the HoDs, various Public organisations and colonies chairmen for the peaceful and successful conduct of ULB election.
Delivering a short speech, Special Officer to chief minister expressed gratitude to ADC, Chiephobozou and his team for the successful completion of election.
He exhorted the elected members to lead an exemplary life and work with the vision to uplift and develop the town.
President NDPP, 11th Northern Angami II, Kechalhoubei Taile encouraged the elected members to function the council with utmost dedication and asked them to take sanitation and beautification of town as their main objectives. The program was chaired by ARO & EAC, Chiephobozou Ane Khieya.
MANGKOLEMBA: ADC Mangkolemba T. Lankonsen Tsanglao administered oath of affirmation to the newly elected members of Mangkolemba town council. A total of nine members representing the nine wards of Mangkolemba undertook the oath to discharge their duties faithfully and diligently.
WOKHA: The newly elected members of Wokha Town Council took oath of affirmation at DCs Conference Hall, Wokha on July 5. The oath of affirmation was administered in accordance with Section 60 A of the Nagaland Municipal Act, 2023.
Immediately after the administration of oath of affirmation to the elected members, the councillors elected Khozamo Lotha as the chairperson and Nzano Kikon as vice chairperson.
PTC members oath taking on July 6
In exercise of the powers vested under Section 60-A of the Nagaland Municipal Act, 2023, Deputy Commissioner, Phek, John Tsulise Sangtam, has informed that, Oath Affirmation programme for all the elected members of Phek Town Council will be held on July 6 at 12 noon at DPDB Hall, Phek. All concerned have been requested to take note of the scheduled programme.
