Newmai retires as NLA commissioner & secretary; DEF&CC bids farewell

 Deputy speaker & speaker-in-charge of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA), Zhaleo Rio, and officers and staff of NLA secretariat held a farewell program for N. Benjamin Newmai, commissioner & secretary, who retired on February 28 on attainment of superannuation.

A press release from secretary K. Sekhose stated that, N. Benjamin Newmai expressed gratitude to the speaker, deputy speaker & speaker-in-charge NLA and all officers & staff for their constant support and cooperation during his tenure in the NLA secretariat. 

Short speeches were also delivered by Zhaleo Rio; K. Sekhose, secretary, the incoming administrative head of the department; staff association; and Dr. Vinito Chishi, state coordinator, LFA. The invocation prayer was said by Rev. Kuzierang Thou, state chaplain and the program concluded with a mass prayer.

DEF&CC: Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (DEF&CC) held a farewell program for outgoing principal chief conservator of Forests (PCCF) & head of Forest Force (HoFF), I. Panger Jamir on February 28. A press release from the conservator of forests, Temjenyabang stated that Jamir is an IFS officer of the 1984 batch and served the state with distinction for 34 years and 9 months. The officer was lauded for his meritorious service by all the speakers in the function and credited with beginning many initiatives in the state. 

Jamir is also a recipient of the Chief Minister’s Commendation Award in 1995, the Governor’s Gold Medal in 2003 and the Certificate of Achievements of The Economist in 2006.
