The Nagaland Football Association (NFA) has announced the designation of four host districts for the ASMITA City/District League U-16 Girls 2026, aimed at promoting women’s football and encouraging young girls to take up the sport across the state.
According to the official press release issued by the NFA, the decision was made following its Executive Meeting held on March 25, 2026, and in reference to AIFF’s directive. The four zones and their respective host districts are:
Zone 1: Kohima (covering Kohima, Tseminyu, Phek, and Meluri)
Zone 2: Chümoukedima (covering Chümoukedima, Dimapur, Niuland, and Peren)
Zone 3: Mokokchung (covering Mokokchung, Wokha, Zunheboto, and Longleng)
Zone 4: Tuensang (covering Tuensang, Noklak, Kiphire, Shamatôr, and Mon)
The league will feature U-16 girls born between January 1, 2011, and December 31, 2012, with matches to be completed by May 31, 2026. The tournament will follow an 11-a-side format, either knockout or round-robin depending on the number of participating teams, with a minimum squad size of 15 and maximum of 20 players.
Each host district will receive Rs. 75,000 in funding from the Sports Authority of India (SAI) for conducting the tournament, and all players must be registered on the Central Registration System (CRS/CMS). The NFA has directed host districts to confirm their participation, proposed dates, venues, and point of contact within three days for onward submission to AIFF. Failure to do so will result in the hosting privilege being transferred to another district.
