NFHRCC asks Hohos to honour boycott call

Nagaland Foothills Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) has reminded tribal hohos to steadfastly adhere to the decisions reaffirmed on March 30, 2026 regarding the postponed April 7 meeting convened by the State government on the National Highways Act, 1956 and acquisition for the Nagaland Foothills Road. It stated that any Hohos violating the collective decision would be termed “anti-developmental and backstabbing activity” on the Nagaland Historical People’s Road project.
On divisions where larger portions remain uncovered, NFHRCC said that Dimapur-based hohos had served an ultimatum to the government on February 21, 2026, setting March 31, 2026 as the deadline. Accordingly, the government had fixed a meeting on March 31 inviting apex tribal hohos, but it was later postponed to April 7. NFHRCC stated that apex hohos along with Dimapur-based hohos had resolved not to participate in the April 7 meeting if NFHRCC was not invited. It added that there was no indication from the government regarding invitation to NFHRCC or issuance of the second phase work order, and that the hohos and committee were prepared to resort to any form of protest.
On the completion deadline up to April 30, 2026, NFHRCC said that as per the contract agreement with M/S JK Construction and M/S Chabou & Co, the works were to be completed by December 2025, which was extended to March 2026 and further till April 30, 2026, terming the extensions unreasonable and unjustified. It stated that if the firms failed to complete the work within the extended period, both should be blacklisted and the work awarded to capable firms.
It also expressed dissatisfaction over shortfall of Hume pipes and slab culverts, indicating anomalies in DPR preparation, and cautioned the department to take the matter seriously. It further urged PWD (R&B) to immediately supply steel structures in Baghty and Peren divisions to enable designated firms to complete works at the earliest, and said lack of transparency by the present opposition-less government vis-à-vis the SASCI loan component was distasteful.
NFHRCC informed that a joint consultative meeting of Dimapur-based tribal hohos and selected core team members from each tribal body, including Naga Council Dimapur, would be held on April 6 at 10 a.m. at NFHRCC base office, Kher Mahal, Dimapur.
