NFHRCC indefinite stir kept in abeyance

Warns, newly formed ‘Young Nagas Action Committee for Foothills Road’ to be active for any eventualities

Urges Centre to declare Trans Nagaland Expressway (Mega Project) from Khelma to Tizit at the earliest

Nagaland Foothill Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) has announced suspension of its proposed indefinite agitation scheduled from Monday in view of the State government’s move to construct and make the foothill road pliable.

In a press release, NFHRCC convener Supu Jamir, general secretary, W Lemba Chang and assistant general secretary Chenithung Humtsoe said that during a meeting with Dimapur-based civil society organisations (CSOs) here on Sunday, the committee in response to the government’s gesture decided to keep the proposed indefinite stir in abeyance in greater interest of the people till an agreement was reached with PWD (R&B) for execution of the work.

However, it warned that the newly-constituted Young Nagas Action Committee for Foothills Road (YNACFR) would be active for any eventualities.

NFHRCC and Dimapur-based CSOs welcomed the decision of chief minister Neiphiu Rio and deputy chief minister Yanthungo Patton to allot necessary fund for making the Foothill road pliable despite acute financial constraints.

Noting that the decision showed that the State government was fully aware of the pulse of people, the meeting also acknowledged all MLAs and PWD (R&B) for their commitment in making the historic Naga project a reality.

The meeting demanded that construction for making the Foothill road pliable should be started at the onset of the upcoming working season.

The meeting further acknowledged Ao Senso Telongjem Dimapur; Chang Union Dimapur; Lotha Hoho Dimapur; Konyak Union Dimapur; Khiamniungan Union; Dimapur; Phom Union Dimapur; Sangtam Union Dimapur; apex Lotha Hoho; Western Sumi Hoho; Western Yimkhium Hoho; Nagaland Zeliang People’s Organisation; CNTC, ENPO, CNSA, DENSU, ZLSU, DAYO, LYOD and WSYF for their unflinching support to the initiatives of NFHRCC.

The House also appreciated the role of the media in covering all events judiciously.

Urging Government of India to declare the Trans Nagaland Expressway (Mega Project) from Khelma to Tizit at the earliest, the meeting unequivocally endorsed the committee to apprise the Union ministry of road transport & highways and approach the Prime Minister’s Office at the earliest to expedite the relentless efforts made by the State government.
