NFHRCC urges state govt to take up foothills road project through NEC

Nagaland Foothill Road Coordination Committee (NFHRCC) at consultative meeting with the apex tribal hohos and legislators at Holel Saramati, Dimapur on July 28, 2023, unanimously resolved to urge upon the state government to take up the foothills road project as priority through North East Council (NEC) in consonant with the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Resolution adopted on September 22, 2022.

NFHRCC convener Supu Jamir, secretary W Lemba Chang, co-convener Hokiye Yepthomi and assistant general secretary Chenithung Humtsoe stated that the meeting also resolved that in order to strengthen the committee and for the smooth initiative of the historic project, the apex tribal hohos empowered the NFHRCC to exercise replacement and appointment of the committee members based on their commitments. The meeting observed that due to lack of proper supervision and co-ordination among the agencies, many projects in Nagaland have not been executed robustly and as a result innocent publics were paying “heavy price with tears and sweats.”

Therefore, to avoid such misadventures and to maintain the workmanship, the meeting “unanimously” resolved that the “tripartite agreement on convention or shall be signed between NFHRCC, concerned Department and the executing firms” before the commencement of works both under NEC and mega project.

Meanwhile, NFHRCC expressed condolences to the family members of late L. Phukato Shohe, proprietor of M/S L. Phukato Shohe & Sons, the contractor firm of the Doyang Bridge at Governor’s Camp, Liphanyan on the Foothills Road, who successfully completed the construction of the Doyang Bridge.
