DIMAPUR: The 7th Annual Review Meeting of Nagaland Forest Management Project (NFMP), Divisional Management Unit (DMU) Mokokchung, was held at Community Hall, Marepkong, to review project activities undertaken during 2025–26.
DFO cum DMU head Mokokchung, Rajesh Kumar, in a press release informed that EAC Chuba Sanen, speaking on behalf of the district administration, appreciated the efforts of villagers and encouraged them to use such platforms to share challenges and requirements for better coordination and support.
Senior Scientist, KVK Mokokchung, Kevi Khate, lauded departmental initiatives and suggested exploring GI tagging for unique SHG products, while Joint Director, SARS, Lipokonen, commended awareness generated through the project and advised continuation of nursery and plantation activities beyond the project period. He also recommended facilitating FSSAI registration for SHGs to improve market access for food based products.
JFMC and SHG representatives presented activities undertaken in their villages with project support, while officials from Mokokchung Range and Changtongya Beat outlined works carried out during the year and proposed plans for the current year.
Nagaland Development Outreach team leader, Akumtoshi, highlighted FNGO activities relating to SHG promotion and capacity building, encouraging SHGs to take up improved livelihood ventures, particularly with the enhanced revolving fund support of Rs. 2 lakh per SHG. FMU head Mokokchung, Sashilemla, stressed the need to operationalise the Forest Sustainability Fund, while ACF and Beat in charge Changtongya, Moamongba, underscored proposed activities under revised forestry models to cover new areas as per project targets.
The meeting also discussed measures to sustain project achievements beyond the project period. Chaired by FNGO community mobiliser Akumlila, the programme was attended by JFMC and SHG representatives from all 18 project villages.
