DIMAPUR: The Directorate of School Education, Nagaland, felicitated meritorious government school students who excelled in the HSLC and HSSLC Examinations 2026 during the Nagaland Government School Students’ Meritorious Award (NGSSMA) felicitation service held at the Morung Conference Hall, Directorate of School Education, Kohima.
According to a DIPR report, the programme also honoured 22 government schools that achieved a 100 per cent pass percentage in the examinations.
Advisor for School Education & SCERT, Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, graced the occasion as special guest. He lauded the achievements of government school students, noting that their performance was now at par with private institutions. Highlighting the Vidyadhan Scholarship Programme for government school students securing 75 per cent and above, he urged eligible candidates to avail the opportunity. Dr. Yhome also remarked that Nagaland, though the 16th state to be formed, has become the third most literate state in India, with girls outperforming boys in recent years.
Principal Director, School Education, Shashank Pratap Singh, emphasized that the felicitation was not only about academic excellence but also about perseverance, discipline and resilience. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening education through infrastructure development, teacher training, and student support initiatives. Commissioner & Secretary, School Education & SCERT, Kevileno Angami, extended congratulations to students, teachers, and stakeholders for their collective success.
Awards were presented to top-performing government school students. In HSLC 2026, Sreeniti Mahapatra of GHS Yachem secured first position, followed by Visezono Vakha of Rüzhükhrie GHSS, Kohima, and Shilunungtet of Subong GHS, Mongsenyimti.
In HSSLC (Arts), Pooja Bharti of PM Shri GHSS, Chümoukedima, topped the list, while Khekavi Yepthomi of GHSS, Purana Bazar, and Rhonthunglo Lotha of GHSS, Wokha, followed. In HSSLC (Commerce), Keneisienuo Seyie of Rüzhükhrie GHSS, Kohima, secured first position, with Vimethanyu Nagi and Khusi Khadka of GHSS Jotsoma placed second and third. In HSSLC (Science), Moaakum T. Longkumer of PM Shri Mayangnokcha GHSS emerged topper, followed by Anadil Raza of the same school and Yinwang Peter of Rüzhükhrie GHSS, Kohima. The programme featured experience-sharing by toppers, a presentation on the Vidyadhan Scholarship by the Sarojini Damodaran Foundation, and sharing of best practices by school heads. Certificates were awarded to the 22 schools with 100 per cent pass results. Special songs by GHS Midland and GHSS Viswema added to the event, which concluded with a vote of thanks by Director, School Education, Razouseyi Vese.
