DIMAPUR: Alleging anomalies in the payment of land compensation, the Aggrieved Landowners’ Adhoc Union (ALAU)—affected by construction of 2 lane from Doyang to Izheto under NH-02—Friday said they have resolved to disallow construction activities within the land of the aggrieved landowners till the responsible authorities rectify the anomalies within one week.
In a press release, ALAU chairman Er.KT Hevito Labo and secretary Abel Z Assumi stated that the aggrieved landowners from Mukhami, Phishumi, Maromi, VK Town, Ajiqami and Sastami villages at the general meeting held at VK Town on March 18, 2022, resolved to reject the “so-called damaged compensation” paid by DC Zunheboto in cash, without proper payment receipts.
The signatories claimed that they have evidences of too many discrepancies including withdrawing huge amount in cash of more than Rs.29 crore by DC Zunheboto and payments made at his residence.
They alleged that “random payments” were made to many bogus beneficiaries and in the process the names of many genuine beneficiaries were found missing ignoring the original 2017-18 survey & sanctions from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
Further, they claimed that submission of revised estimate for damage compensation was done without justifying the original survey report.
The signatories cautioned that failure of the responsible authority to rectify the anomalies within the stipulated period would force the union to initiate legal proceedings.
They warned that the union would explore all options, including legal process, to obtain the original documents and other evidences in order to redress the grievances of the aggrieved landowners.
The union said it would also approach appropriate authorities to initiate actions against concerned officials, who it alleged “openly flouted” all norms and rules regarding withdrawal and payment of cash, manipulation of original documents etc.
