State deputy chief minister, TR Zeliang, who is also minister in-charge of National Highway, on Tuesday said that successful implementation of the proposed National Highway (NH)-129A project will change the face of Peren town.
Speaking at the facilitation meeting for NH-129A package-I Peren town portion at Peren town hall on Tuesday, Zeliang described proper road development as most important thing while referring to good road development between Dimapur and Chümoukedima.
Highlighting the issue of compensation for package of NH129A (1 to 5), Zeliang said the district administration and stakeholders were given free hand on the matter. According to a DIPR report, Zeliang encouraged the public to cooperate with the district administration and settle the damage compensation so works could be start at the earliest.
He urged the public to unite their hearts and pursue good work and assist in early completion. The deputy CM also informed that the technical evaluation was under process at NHIDCL headquarters, adding that four firms participated in the bidding.
He also highlighted that blacktopping in town area would be 10 metres while ROW would vary from 16-24 metres. Zeliang stated that the period for completion would be 18 months from the appointed date.
Highlighting the project of NH 129A Package-1 of Peren town portion, NHIDCL, PMU-Dimapur Dy. General Manager (Projects), Anand Kumar, stated that 129A Peren-Dimapur section starts from Dzukou river Steel bridge (Manipur) border to 7th Mile Chumukedima, a total length of approximately 81km, divided into six packages.
He informed that the project has been conceived with the aim to provide good quality highway. Kumar said the National Highway 129A would serve as an alternate route to Manipur connecting Nagaland.
He said that the project would also result in development of basic infrastructure in the region. Kumar also highlighted that the Project Cost of 129A Package–1 Peren Town Portion was Rs. 106.32crore
Also, speaking at the meeting, the deputy commissioner (DC) Peren, Hiazu Meru, said that the district would go forward and more development would progress in the region with good roads.
DC also urged the Peren town public leaders to have regularly and timely meeting in order to give their support in the process of development works.
At the meeting, land owners and the affected land owners vowed that they were willing to cooperate and give up their land for the welfare of the general public in the district. They also assured to extend full support in the process of development at Peren town.
The programme was presided by ADC Peren Keyirangding Hegui while Peren Town Baptist Church pastor Rev. Haiku Nza invoked God’s blessings and head GB Peren town Hoidoliang Ikie gave concluding remarks.
