NH-29 closed near old KMC dumping site

Following a detailed assessment by the concerned authorities, deputy commissioner Kohima, B. Henok Buchem, has ordered the temporary closure of the affected stretch of NH-29 at Chainage KM 175.350 (near Old KMC dumping site) to all forms of vehicular traffic until further notice.
Stating that this was done in the interest of public safety, DC informed that during assessment it was found that vehicular movement along the affected section posed risk of accidents and further landslides in the prevailing weather conditions.
Alternate route: DC notified Jotsoma bypass road as an alternative route for light motor vehicles, along with Peducha Bridge-Tsiesema (10 Mile Road) for all heavy vehicles and other district bound vehicles, military/paramilitary vehicles, and compact/mid-size pick-up vehicles and all types of heavy and mid-size commercial vehicles. DC warned that violation of the order would be liable for prosecution under relevant sections of law.
