NH-29 to partially open for LMVs with rider

The deputy commissioner (DC) Chumoukedima has informed that Dimapur-Kohima road stretch NH-29 would be partially open from July 18, 2023 subject to the certain conditions.
In a notification, DC Chumoudekima Abhinav Shivam informed that the road would be opened for light passenger vehicles between 5 am and 6 pm only.
DC stated that those willing to travel by the said stretch have to sign an undertaking with the traffic police personnel declaring that the “commuter is aware of the risk involved and is undertaking the travel at one’s own risk.”
DC stated that the cases of medical emergencies, those undertaking travel through air or railways, and officials’ vehicles, may be allowed on case-to-case basis.
However, the road would be closed during the time of dislodging of the rocks or during the exercise, or execution of any other safety measure by authorities. For regulation of the volume of the traffic on the stretch, DC informed that passenger vehicles would be released in smaller batches from Patkai Bridge and Jharnapani.
The road would be closed completely during heavy downpour of rainfall and would be opened once
the rain stops. The commuters have been advised to keep abreast with weather forecast issued by NSDMA.
DC informed that the exercise of locating and dislodging of the loose rocks and other safety measures were being undertaken by the authorities on the stretch. Given the forecast of heavy rainfall in coming days, DC has, however, the travellers have been strongly advised to avoid the stretch of NH-29 from Patkai Bridge to Jharnapani and to take the alternate route.
