NH-36 road work to start by September

Staff Reporter

Amidst widespread public complaints regarding the deplorable state of NH-36 and the delay in its construction, project-in-charge of the construction firm– Naagaamii Infratech Pvt Ltd, disclosed that construction work was scheduled to commence in September.

The in-charge attributed the delay in starting the construction work to adverse weather conditions.
Pointing out that road construction during the rainy season was unfeasible, he hoped that the weather conditions in the coming days would allow them to execute the work properly.

It may be mentioned that the Ministry of Road, Transport, and Highways (MoRTH) had initially awarded the NH-36 construction contract to M/s Kampung Kamyer Trading Co on February 2, 2021. However, due to contract violations and subsequent blacklisting, the contractor’s contract was terminated on July 27, 2022.

Subsequently, MoRTH initiated a re-tendering process for the same project. In response, the Public Works Department (National Highways) took action in September 2022 by issuing an e-tender notice for the development of the existing two-lane pavement. The scope of work included the enhancement of NH-36, spanning from 160/000 km to 166/880 km, employing the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) mode.
