Department of PWD (National Highways) led by chief engineer, Er. I. Tiameren on August 22 set off from Kohima to inspect execution of major road projects at NH 02 and NH 702 D.
The chief engineer was accompanied by Superintendent Engg (Circle I) Er. Aroba and executive engineer, Er. Lima, SDO, JE and others.
On the purpose of the inspection (on site, zero point from 156 km), Chief Engineer Er. I. Tiameren said that the tour was undertaken after he assumed the office of chief engineer.
He added that the tour started from Kohima and the team will be checking the entire coverage of National Highways in the state.
He said that monsoon season was the best time to visit the site, so that damage caused by rains could be ascertained. The chief engineer said that the inspection started from zero point, 185 km – 220 km. He also informed that completed project will be taken up for rectification if needed. The team also inspected the lab of JKM to check adequate installation of tools and equipment and to conduct on spot test at the lab.
The chief engineer said that the team will also be visiting NH 702D (Mokokchung-Mariani road) which is the lifeline for two- three districts.
Giving details about the said road, the chief engineer said that survey works will be carried out soon by the Project Management Consultancy (PMC) for which the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways have already issued the “offering letter”. The department will also extend full cooperation to the consultancy to expedite their works, he further added.
