
Mokokchung police have arrested one National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) official, in-charge of execution of road construction in six districts, on charges of bribery on June 2. In a press note, superintendent of police Mokokchung stated that the NHIDCL general manager BD Jangade was arrested after police station-1 received a written FIR from deputy commissioner Mokokchung.
As per the FIR, a video of BD Jangade based at Mokokchung district was currently in circulation on social media wherein he was seen demanding a cut of 1% as his share in every contract work executed by contractors. In the FIR, the complainant demanded that criminal proceedings be initiated against the accused.
Subsequently, SP said Jangade was arrested from NHIDCL office at Arkong Ward, Mokokchung and a case has been registered with PS-1.
He was booked under relevant section of IPC and Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act 2018.
During preliminary investigation, SP said it was established that the official was in-charge of Mokokchung, Zunheboto, Wokha, Longleng, Mon and a part of Kohima district since January 20, 2019 for execution of road construction in the state.
