Nagaland In-service Doctor’s Association (NIDA) has served a 48-hour ultimatum starting midnight of October 25, on the state government to positively respond to its demand for enhancement of superannuation from 60 to 62.
NIDA president Dr. Bernard Amer and general secretary Dr. Nitovi Shikhu, in the ultimatum addressed to the state chief secretary, secretary health and family welfare and principal director health and family welfare, stated that NIDA has not received any response from the state government over its representation dated August 1, 2022. NIDA said it had submitted the representation in connection to demand of “62 years of Superannuation for all doctors without any condition or criteria”. NIDA said that it has, therefore, decided to serve another 48 hours to the government for a positive response.
NIDA warned that in the event of failure on the part of government to respond to the demand within the given period, it has decided to start indefinite cease work except emergency and life-saving service. NIDA said the state government would be solely held responsible for any untoward incident occurring during the agitation. NIDA also said it would be compelled to intensify its agitation, depending on the response from the government.
