DIMAPUR: Niki-led NSCN (K) has condemned the alleged abduction of its senior member in front of his wife and other family members by members of NSCN (I-M) in Jalukie area on April 12, 2022.
The group through MIP stated its senior member was later released after the reported intervention of senior officials of NSCN (I-M) and members of civil society organisations, but “not before being mercilessly beaten and warned not to set his foot again in Jalukie area.”
Refuting statement that he was released unharmed, MIP said the injuries caused to his body “stands witness to how badly he was beaten after taking him to an isolated jungle area.”
Stating that it was “utterly astounded by the incident”, the group said such act was not expected from the members of the NSCN (I-M), “a well established and matured organization”, to commit such an act of “confrontation and harassing our own Naga brothers when the entire Naga society is yearning for peace and for unified Nagas.”
Appreciating the intervention of the NSCN (I-M) senior officials and NGOs for early release of its senior member, the Niki-led NSCN (K) urged the NSCN (I-M) “not to allow its good image be tarnished by the misdeeds of its irresponsible members.” Affirming that it was committed to the wishes and aspirations of the Naga people for peace and unity, the group said it would only be a distant dream as long as there was “conflict among our own people.”
