Niki Sümi: NSCN (K) deputy C-in-C, ‘gen.’ Niki Sumi has expressed his deep condolences over the demise of Isak Chishi Swu.
In his message, Niki said late Swu relentlessly led Nagas through the darkest period and gave them new meaning and hope. “He fiercely advocated Christianity, now we proudly declare our state as Christian state to the world. Till heaven and earth is no more we will carry forward his legacy”, Niki said. He further prayed that God grant strength and comfort to the bereaved family.
ULFA(I): United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) said it was pained by the passing away of NSCN (I-M) chairman Isak Chishi Swu. Describing him as a towering personality, ULFA(I) chairman Dr Abhizeet Asom in his condolence message said Swu was a religious man with an amicable personality which was a great asset for his group in bringing unity between tribes and taking forward the Naga cause. He said with his mature skill and statesmanship, Swu tried his best to undo the shackles of the 1975 Shillong Accord. Though Swu has left this world with his dream unfinished, Asom said “but nevertheless undefeated at the hands of the treacherous Indian establishment, with the laurel on his head of Naga National hero.”
UKLF: United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) in a condolence message said it was very saddened to hear the news of the untimely demise of Isak Chishi Swu, chairman of the NSCN (I-M). In a condolence message UKLF said late Swu was one of the exemplary pioneering leaders who inspired many revolutionary leaders in the northeast to visualize greater visions for their respective community and causes. “It is with great veneration that the UKLF would like to acknowledge his contribution in sowing seeds of vision and with deep sorrow, convey our deepest condolence to his family, loved ones and the organization he strived to bring to greater good”, stated UKLF . It stated that a revolutionary leader always works hard behind the scene and suffers many sorrows, sacrificing their own personal pleasures for which the public is usually unaware. “Isak Chishi Swu was such a man striving hard silently for the greater good of the Nagas in particular, for which the fruit of his labour was manifested with the signing of the Naga Peace Accord; which has brought hope and pride in the hearts of Nagas after a long wait of almost two decades. This has brought hope not just to the Nagas but to other similar revolutionaries in the northeast to press on until a feasible political settlement is achieved and not to give up. Although he is no longer with us to witness the full fruition of his efforts, he has left hope and a bright future for the Nagas to continue striving until his dream for greater Nagalim is achieved”, added UKLF. It then expressed the hope that NSCN (I-M) finds a suitable leader to replace the great void he has left behind. The UKLF has also expressed its deepest condolence to the great leader and to his organization and followers who we hope will follow in his footstep to bring greater glory to the race he once started. “May he continue to inspire us”, stated UKLF.
KRN: Khonoma Rüffüno Nagaland (KRN) has conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members of Chairman Isak Chishi Swu. KRN said late Isak Swu gave the prime years of his life for the Naga national cause and his sacrifice for the cause and devotion to his Christian faith defined his leadership. His demise at this critical juncture was a great loss to the Nagas, stated KRN.
TBCA: Tangkhul Baptist Churches’ Association (TBCA) in a condolence message said it was greatly shocked to hear the demise of NSCN yaruiwo late Isak Chishi Swu. TBCA said “Without doubt we can testify that Isak Chishi Swu was the embodiment of a true patriot and a prayerful Christian for the Nagas to emulate. We can feel the great loss caused by his demise at the time when the Naga people need him most”. TBCA has conveyed condolences to Eustar Chishi Swu and the children and prayed to God the heavenly father to comfort them and grant them peace. TBCA said “Amidst such a loss may we say, we give honour to the legacy you have left for us. Let the end of your earthly life be the beginning of unity and accomplishment of Naga people’s long-yearned vision. We salute you Isak Chishi Swu.”
ANCSU: All Nagaland College Students Union (ANCSU) has expressed its condolence on the death of Isaac Chishi Swu, one of the most important Naga leader and co-founder of NSCN (I-M), a person who spent his entire life for the cause of the Nagas. ANCSU said “we believe that his dedication and sacrifice for the cause of Nagas will continue to inspire the younger Naga generation. We also hope that his legacy will evolve into a long lasting peace and reconcillation of the Nagas. He will be remembered for his historical role in bringing out the framework agreement for Naga peace”. It prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
NPF AP unit: Arunachal Pradesh NPF State Unit has mourned the death of Naga national leader, NSCN (I-M) yaruiwo Isak Chishi Swu. In a condolence message the unit said “Today all Naga brothers and Sisters living in Nagaland and elsewhere have lost one of the few Visionary and truly patriotic leader, who had dedicated himself completely for the noble cause of the motherland; A deeply religious and pious man who taught us through his life.” It has prayed to God to grant strength to the bereaved family members to endure the loss and to the departed soul to rest in peace.
ZCCI: Zunheboto Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ZCCI) in a condolence message said late Isak Chish Swu has been a “shepherd to all Nagas, irrespective of political boundary, region, tribe or community(s), for more than half century services till his last breath.” ZCCI the said “the services and sacrifices rendered by Asu Isak can never be paralleled and replaced, making him the most undisputed leader in the annals of Naga Political Struggle history. He had also contributed and propagated much towards the growth of Naga Christianity and elsewhere beyond the NE ‘Seven Sister States’, extending to the far east Burmese union” stated ZCCI. LHT: Lotha Hoho Tuensang (LHT) has extended condolences to the bereaved family members of Late Isak Chishi Swu and prays that the departed soul rest in peace.
W. Wangyuh Konyak: Ex-member of parliament Lok Sabha W. Wangyuh Konyak in condolence message has expressed shock at the demise of late Isak Chish Swu, NSCN (I-M) chairman. He mentioned that late Swu was very instrumental in ushering Christianity and education in Eastern Naga areas and a passionate leader who had dedicated his entire life towards the cause of Naga people. W. Wangyuh said “we as Nagas, must always remember late Swu for his undying loyalty and contribution towards Naga cause and also towards Christianity”. Konyak termed the demise of late Isak Chishi Swu as critical at this crucial period when Nagas are yarning for permanent political solution and that with the passing of late Isak Chishi Swu, Nagas has lost God fearing and spiritual brilliant leader. BJP minority morcha State: BJP Minority Morcha State has mourned the demise of late Isak Chishi Swu. In a condolence message, BJP minority morcha described late Swu as one of the tallest Naga leaders who had dedicated all his life for the cause of Naga aspiration saying his death has left a deep void and an irreplaceable vacuum. “The legacy that late Swu has left behind shall be cherished and continue to inspire the younger generation”, said the Morcha.
