Nikki-led NSCN (K) holds meeting with tribal bodies

Nikki Sumi-led NSCN (K) held a meeting with representatives of apex Naga tribal bodies of Nagaland, including Kachari Tribal Council and Kuki Inpi (N), at Tourist Lodge Dimapur on Thursday.

NSCN/GPRN MIP informed that during meeting, attended by its president ‘gen.’ (retd) Nikki Sumi and ato kilonser Starson Lamkang, the tribal leaders lauded government of India for signing the ceasefire with the group for a period of one year.

MIP stated that the tribal leaders also that it was the desire of all Nagas that all groups come to negotiating table with Centre and hoped that there would be a positive outcome vis-à-vis Naga solution.

The leaders also voiced concern over the future of the Nagas and stressed the need for unity not only among different groups, but also the Nagas to work collectively to pave way for people to live in peace.

In his address, Nikki reiterated that the group had come to negotiation with Centre as per the desire of the people and assured to do whatever best served the interest of people.

He called upon the tribal leaders "to come as one, stand as one, to voice out as one people the aspirations and desires of the Nagas" and tell all the groups of what was needed to be done in order to bring about a lasting peace.

He said solution lay in the hands of Nagas and not Naga political groups alone, and therefore it was imperative for Nagas in general to take a decision.

Speaking on the occasion, Starson said all types of “isms” had broken Nagas into pieces and there could never be success as long as Nagas remain divided.

People’s Army Nagaland commander-in-chief Akaho Zhimo also attended the meeting and chaired by MIP kilonser and supervisor CFSB Nikato Pilot, while Rev Dr Phughoto Aye, executive secretary WSBAK gave the invocation prayer.
