Nikshay Mitras program launched in Mon dist.

The Nikshay Mitra, a project that enables people to adopt tuberculosis patients and take care of their nutritional and medical requirements, aims to combat the stigma associated with the disease, was launched at the DC’s conference hall, Mon on January 27.
The program was sponsored by the Asian Development Foundation and the Heads of Departments (HODs).


Dr. Supongmenla Walling, Chief Medical Officer of Mon, welcomed the participants and informed, with the help of administration, 50 donors from the HoDs and 100 from the Asian Development Foundation will provide nutrition to TB patients, offering a significant boost to the district. She expressed hope for strong outcomes with the launch of the Asian Foundation Mitras and thanked all donors for their generous contributions.


Deputy Commissioner, Mon, Ajit Kumar Verma, thanked the Asian Development Foundation and the District Planning Development Board members for their nutritional support to tuberculosis patients.

He said the initiative was important in the fight against TB and needed more efforts due to the high prevalence of the disease and its widespread bacteria in the region. He welcomed further assistance from other charities or individuals, encouraging support not only for nutrition but in any capacity, as the number of cases in the district continues to rise rapidly.


CEO of the Asian Development Foundation (ADF) highlighted several activities undertaken by the team and handed over the nutritional supplements, donated by the HoDs and ADF, to the tuberculosis patients.


The programme was chaired by Senior Tuberculosis Laboratory Supervisor (STLS), Imliwapang and vote of thanks by Supervisor, Programmatic Management of Drug Resistant Tuberculosis (PMDT), National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP), Mon, Loshon Wangshu Konyak.
