DIMAPUR, JUN 14 (NPN): The Interim Nagaland Indian Medical Council (Interim NIMC) has directed all practitioners of the Indian System of Medicine (ISM) in Nagaland to mandatorily register with the council, in compliance with directives issued by the Board of Ethics and Registration under the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM), New Delhi.
In a notification, the Interim NIMC stated that all ISM practitioners, including those holding BAMS, BUMS, BSMS and BSRMS qualifications and currently practising in Nagaland under registration obtained from other State Councils or Boards, must complete registration with the Interim NIMC between June 15 and December 15, 2026.
The council warned that practitioners failing to comply within the stipulated period would be deemed to be practising in contravention of provisions of the NCISM Act, regulations and other relevant statutory provisions, and would be liable for legal, disciplinary and penal action as permissible under law.
It further notified that all ISM practitioners from outside Nagaland entering the state for clinical practice, consultations, CME programmes, workshops, medical camps, academic activities, hospital attachments or any other professional engagement must obtain transit registration or temporary permission from the Interim NIMC before undertaking such activities.
The council also informed that its office would remain functional for registration of newly qualified graduates in Indian System of Medicine and for matters relating to professional and regulatory compliance.
For assistance, practitioners may contact registrar Dr. Tiakaba Jamir (9436010174) or deputy registrar-cum-treasurer Dr. Khonuo Mary (9436404024), or email nagalandimc@gmail.com.
