NIPF decries bias in police recruitment

DIMAPUR, OCT 12 (NPN)

Nagaland Indigenous People’s Forum (NIPF) has expressed deep concern over the non-inclusion of indigenous Garo, Kachari, Kuki and Mikir (Karbi) tribes of Nagaland in the recent district-wise reservation for the post of Nagaland Police.
In a press note, NIPF advisor and founder member, Khehoto Kiho Swu, pointed out that as per the Constitution (Nagaland) Scheduled Tribes Order, 1970, these four tribes were duly recognized as Scheduled Tribes of Nagaland.
He also cited various government notifications issued in 1969, 1972, 1973 and 1983, which specified 100% reservation for non-technical Grade III and Grade IV posts and 80% for other categories for (1) any Naga tribe, (2) Kuki, (3) Garo, (4) Kachari and (5) Mikir tribes of the state.
Khehoto lamented that the September 30, 2025 advertisement for police recruitment had totally ignored the above provisions, thereby discriminating against the minority tribes who should be given the same treatment. He appealed to the state government to review the advertisement in order to ensure justice and equality among all indigenous tribes of the state.
