Niuland holds immense promise and potential: Governor Yadav

Nagaland governor Nand Kishore Yadav has expressed confidence that Niuland, one of the state’s youngest districts, holds immense promise and potential as it continues to develop.
The governor made these remarks during an interaction with leaders of civil society organisations (CSOs), tribal bodies, and government officials in the conference hall of at the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Niuland on Tuesday.
According to a DIPR report, Yadav commended the strong sense of unity, identity, and purpose among the people of Niuland. He appreciated the spirit of cooperation among various tribal bodies and community organisations, describing it as essential for the district’s progress and development.
The governor stated that his visit was aimed at understanding the aspirations, challenges, and priorities of the people at the grassroots level. He emphasised that development was most effective when it was inclusive and responsive to local needs. Yadav urged all stakeholders — CSOs, village leaders, and the district administration — to work in close coordination so government initiatives reached every household.
The governor also stressed the importance of maintaining peace, strengthening community bonds, and upholding values of integrity and responsibility. “As Niuland grows, it must do so with a vision that balances development with preservation of its rich cultural heritage and traditions,” the governor said.
He reminded Gaon Buras (GBs) and tribal organisations that their leadership and guidance would play a crucial role in shaping the future of the district.
He assured them of his continued support and expressed hope that through collective effort and shared responsibility, Niuland would emerge as a model district in the state.
The governor also interacted with beneficiaries of various government schemes.
A PowerPoint presentation was made by medical officer (MO) Dr. Rosemary Sema and Dr. O. Amihe Swu, TOT, ENRC Niuland, highlighting the achievements and challenges of their departments.
Short speeches were delivered by Western Sumi Hoho president Vikato Achumi, Yimkhiung Arihako Niuland president K. Yimso, and Niuland District GBs Association president Isawoto Zhimomi. Niuland Town Sumi Totimi Loka presented a folk song. The programme was chaired by DC Niuland, T. L. Kiusumong Tikhir.
