Nagaland Joint Christian Forum (NJCF) has resolved to declare 2026 as a Year of Intercession for Unity and Peace across all Naga-inhabited areas, transcending borders and divisions. The resolution was adopted during the forum’s two-day consultative meeting held on August 27 and 28, 2025, at Shunammite Inn, Dimapur, under the theme “Unity in Christ.”
The event brought together church leaders and representatives from Nagaland, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Myanmar, fostering dialogue on Christian unity and regional cooperation.
According to a press release issued by NJCF secretary Rev. Moses Murry, the inaugural session featured key addresses by Rev. Dr. N. Paphino, NJCF president, on the theme “Unity in Christ,” Sokho George, president of Naga Christian Forum Manipur, on “Partnership in Mission,” and Rev. Dr. Wati Aier, president of FNR, who spoke on “The Future of Naga.” A presentation on Naga history was delivered by Zapra Chakhesang, whose book was formally released by Rev. Dr. Wati Aier.
Among other resolutions, the forum urged political groups to set aside differences for the sake of future generations, encouraged the formation of Naga Christian Forums in various states, and resolved to hold biennial fellowship meetings across different locations.
The second day began with a fellowship service led by Rev. Dr. Marak, secretary general of CBCNEI, who spoke on “Facing the Challenges Together.” Discussions focused on strengthening Christian forums across the Northeast, advocating for minority rights, and drafting a joint appeal to the President of India seeking permission to rebuild religious institutions destroyed during the Manipur violence, which saw the destruction of 450 churches.
The meeting reaffirmed NJCF’s commitment to deepening spiritual life, fostering unity among Christians, and strengthening regional collaboration, especially in light of the Northeast’s 34% Christian population. Solidarity was expressed with the Christian community in Manipur.
The programme was moderated by Rev. Dr. N. Paphino and Rev. Dr. Vevo Phesao, with the vote of thanks delivered by Rev. Phesao. A special prayer was offered for Manipur, persecuted Christians across India, and the next NJCF meeting.
