DIMAPUR, MAY 8 (NPN): Nagaland Joint Christian Forum (NJCF) expressed pain over reports circulating on social media claiming that Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) president Sword Vashum walked out of a joint meeting organised by NJCF between the Kuki and Tangkhul communities, terming the report as “totally false”.
According to a clarification signed by NJCF general secretary Rev. Mosses Murry, the joint meeting was convened at Kohima on May 4, at the invitation of the forum, attended by church and civil leaders from both communities.
Nagaland Joint Christian Forum asserted that at no point during the meeting did Sword Vashum walk out, as alleged in the circulated news report.
The forum stated that all participants from both communities, along with NJCF, stood witness to the truth and categorically debunked the false report.
It said such disinformation undermined the spirit of dialogue and reconciliation.
Reaffirming that peace was the only way forward, NJCF appealed to both Kukis and Nagas to cease all forms of violent confrontation and give peace a chance and further called for unity and understanding “in Christ’s name”.
