DIMAPUR, AUG 31 (NPN): Nagaland Joint Christian Forum (NJCF) has announced a “Rally for Religious Freedom” on September 12 at Khuochiezie (Local Ground), Kohima, to oppose the proposed amendments to Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act and reaffirm its commitment to secular democracy and the Constitution of India. Organising committee convenor Rev. Dr. Vevo Phesao, NJCF president Rev. Dr. N. Paphino and general secretary Rev. Moses Murry said that the decision was taken during a special consultation meeting convened by the forum on August 19 at Khedi Baptist Church, Kohima Village, attended by heads and representatives of various denominations and Christian organisations across Nagaland.
The rally will begin at 11 a.m. and will be held for one hour. According to NJCF, the rally aims to express collective concern over issues affecting religious freedom, particularly the proposed FCRA amendments, which it said could adversely affect the ministries and services of churches.
The forum also said the rally would reaffirm its commitment to secular democracy and the Constitution and seek divine intervention for the nation.
NJCF appealed to churches, denominational leaders, pastors, mission organisations, theological institutions, youth and women departments, students and believers in and around Kohima and across Nagaland to participate in the peaceful prayer gathering.
“Let us come together for one hour to pray as one people for our faith, our churches, and our nation,” the forum said.
