DIMAPUR: A delegation from the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) is participating in the 69th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference (CPC) being held in Cape Town, South Africa, from September 13 to 19, 2026. The delegation comprised the Speaker of the NLA Sharingain Longkumer along with his spouse, Deputy Speaker S. Toiho Yeptho with his spouse, and secretary Khruohituonuo Rio.
The CPC, hosted by the Parliament of South Africa and the CPA South Africa Branch, is being held under the theme “Strengthening International Law and Parliamentary Democracy in a Changing World Order: Commonwealth Leadership.” The conference brings together Speakers, Presiding Officers, Parliamentarians and officials from nearly 180 national, state, provincial and territorial legislatures across the Commonwealth.
Speaker Sharingain Longkumer participated in Workshop C on “Parliamentary Leadership in Promoting Climate Adaptation and Resilience,” while Deputy Speaker S. Toiho Yeptho took part in Workshop E on “Protecting Human Rights and Promoting Peace: The Role of Parliaments.”
Secretary Khruohituonuo Rio attended the 60th Meeting of the Society of Clerks at the Table (SoCATT), which provided a forum for parliamentary officials to exchange knowledge and strengthen institutional capacity.
