Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) Speaker, Vikho-o Yhoshu, inaugurated two-day orientation workshop on National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA), which was held in the Conference Hall of the Assembly on November 19 and 20, 2018. NeVA, an initiative by Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, aims to make all the Legislatures of the country paperless by making the proceedings of the Houses digital.
According to an official bulletin, it is expected that the NLA would be fully automated with NeVA within a year with the support of the Central Government. The e-Vidhan is a mission mode project under the Digital India Programme, on the theme of “One Nation One Application.” It is a sophisticated e-governance solution, which fully automates the functioning of legislatures and significantly minimizes paper usage with online communication, which is in line with the “Go Green” initiative of the Government of India.
NeVA solution is for the purposes of paperless house sessions where in papers are laid online in the House using touch screen on the tables of Members.
Salient features include online submission of questions/notices by members, online processing of questions/notices, online sending of questions/notices to the departments/members etc. NeVA Mobile App is available for download from Play Store and App Store for Android and ios Mobiles.
Participants of the workshop included officials from IT, NIC, Parliamentary Affairs and officers and staff of Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
