NLA holds shortest ever winter session

For the first time in the history of Nagaland Legislative Assembly (MLA), the winter session of the 12th NLA held on Tuesday was adjourned sine die by the Assembly Speaker 30 minutes after completion of obituary references, presentation of governor’s assent to three bills and laying of government reports and rules.
One-day business of the tenth session was also the first ever ‘opposition-less assembly’.
The session began with the obituary references, where Leader of the house, chief minister T. R. Zeliang made the obituary references of former President of India Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam, former Nagaland Governor Lt. Gen (Retd) V. K. Nayar and sitting Rajya Sabha Member Khekiho Zhimomi.
Nagaland Legislative Assembly Speaker Chotisuh Sazo also made obituary references of former Nagaland Assembly legislators late Bongnao, L J Toshi Sangtam and T. Sentichuba. A two-minute silence was observed in respect of the departed souls.
NLA speaker Chotisuh Sazo also informed that there would be no question hour as none of the member submitted any question.
The Assent to Bills by the Governor of Nagaland to the bill Nagaland protection of interest of depositors in financial establishment Bill 2014, Nagaland state legislature members (removal of disqualification) first amendment Bill 2015 and Nagaland appropriation (No.8) Bill 2015 was read out by the Commissioner and Secretary N. Benjamin Newmai.
Leader of the house T.R Zeliang also tabled reports, papers and rules, the copies of the Nagaland Secretariat (Civil) Stenographers service Rule , 2015, 46th, 47th, 48th and 49th Annual Reports of the Nagaland Public Service Commission.
Member of the Committee on Government Assurances (2015 to 2016) Neiphrezo Keditsu presented the copy of the 89th report of the committee on government assurances (2nd Session of the 12th Nagaland Legislative Assembly).
After finishing all the business of the winter session, NLA speaker Chotisuh Sazo adjourned the House sine-die.
