An emergency general meeting was convened by N. Longidang Village Council (NLVC) on December 6, in regard to the attempted road blockade at KVK – Nyiro road due to which Er. M. C. Ngullie, the chief information commissioner, Nagaland could not make it to the inaugural function held on December 5 with home minister Y. Patton. A condemnation note by NLVC chairman, Longtsuman Ngullie and secretary Yithungo Ezung stated that the recent visit of home minister Y. Patton on December 5 was to unveil the foundation stone as chief guest for construction of a bridge over Doyang river between N. Longidang and Shena Old villages.
NLVC stated that this was not connected with any political reason and regretted tha t those who blockaded the road did so for “cheap political drama and an attempt to disrupt the developmental activities in the area”. NLVC also stated that the general public had unanimously condemned the incident and urged the law enforcing agency of Wokha district to identify the culprits at earliest possible time. The meeting also appealed all the public of the area to support any kind of developmental activities in the area. It may be mentioned that the bridge is the shortest link between Wokha and Zunheboto districts and the main beneficiaries would be Nyiro range of Wokha district and Saptiqa range of Zunheboto district respectively.
