Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA) has expressed solidarity with Zeliangrong Mepui Organisation and strongly protested the bail granted to the prime accused in the alleged rape and murder case of a young mother at Pimla village under Chümoukedima district.
In joint statement issued on Saturday Naga Mothers’ Association president Vilanuo Angela Yhome, vice president Malsawmthangi Leyri, advisers Padma Shri Sano Vamuzo, Prof. Dr. Rosemary Dzüvichü and Abeni TCK Lotha, appealed to the state government to intervene in the case to ensure that justice was delivered.
The association recalled that it had earlier met the then commissioner of police, Dimapur, urging him to hasten the investigation and ensure that punitive measures were taken as per the law.
It urged the new commissioner of police, to take cognisance of the petition filed by the predecessor in court and ensure that the prime accused were kept in custody till the trial was completed.
Calling upon all Naga women to stand in solidarity, NMA said justice must be served in the “heinous Pimla murder case of our beloved sister and mother.”
It may be mentioned that Zeliangrong bodies on Thursday announced the second phase agitation from August 19 in Peren district, protesting alleged government inaction for nearly five months.
