NNC/FGN led by president Thupuswuyi Keyho and FGN kedahge ‘gen.’ (Retd)’ TM Rhakho has affirmed that as the “mandated government” it would uphold the plebiscite of May 16, 1951, which it maintained substantiated the “Naga Independence declaration on 14th August 1947.”
In a statement, NNC vice president Tsorisa Nusory said the joint declaration made on January 29, 2025 affirmed that “Nagas are one, with one goal, one people and one Nation.” The group also affirmed that its “commitment lies in upholding our historical and political rights that our Great leader A.Z. Phizo have paved”. It said that “any deviation from this undermines the painful sufferings and sacrifices of our forefathers” and the principles and objectives of what they had been standing for all throughout the years.
The group maintained that the “Naga Nation have not accepted the Indian Union and will never be part of India.” It further affirmed to steadfastly support and work under the leadership of Keyho and Rhakho and would “never deviate” from the dreams and aspirations of the Nagas.
