They pointed out that unless India settles the “political and human problems” in totality, no nation or people should support its fight for UNSC permanent membership.
The problems include– North East people’s problem, Jammu & Kashmir political problem, Punjab human problem, mainland Maoist problem, imposition of draconian laws like AFSPA and Disturbed Area Act (DAA) of military rule in the region, NNC stated.
NNC said that the world knew well of the historical and political facts and fate of the people in this part of the world, as India has suppressed and oppressed the people of their rights for so long.
While reminding that the signatories were all above the age of 85, who stood for the rights of the Naga people from the inception of the political movement till date, NNC appealed to the United Nations not to accept India as a permanent member until the political and human problems of the sub-continent was solved for the best interest of the UN for world peace.
